Its again only 60%

It is really sad to know even after intense campaining, creating awarness against leaps and bounts across such a huge country there were 40% who did not turn up to the voting booths for the first phase of elections that were held on the 16th of april. People dont understand the truth that just becuse this large half of the people who dont franchaise their votes, even the people who voted have to end up living under the goivernment they did not vote for.
Kerela, a well educated state has lead from the fromt with 72% of voter turnout, the rest propbably may not be living in India. atleast a 75% voter turn out is pretty decenr and will make the politicain suffer endless nightmares till the results are out...but he making us undergo sleepless nights for 5 years is a diffrent story after he wins and comes!!
Its still not later after all we still have 4 more phases to go...atlest people of Tamilnadu have to vote in hunge number coz anyways it will be US who will decide the future Pm of India...

Whats 49'O" ?

Writer 'Gyani' of 'O pakkangal' fame in Kumudham weekly issue is doing a good job of creating awarness about the election rule 49'O'. If you dont want to elect a criminal, convicted or a corrupted, aged, non deserving candidate from your constituency, then go ahead and vote for 49'o'. The election commission is bringing about relutionary changes in the huge election process in India... electronic voting machines, photo identity cards , strict implication of moral code of conduct. The option to select 'none of the above' using the election rule 49'o' is gaining momentum with in the educated class who are tired of electing repeated criminals.

The election commision has asked the governments to pass a bill in the parliment to add the 'none of the above' button' in the EVM s. But both the UPA and NDA joined hands in this issue by not passing the bill. Now a case about this issue is pending with the supreme court of India. The honourable court;s verdict will be out any time.

If the none of the above button is not instaleed in the EVM's then how to go about voting the 49'o'? jsut like the normal procedure, stand in the q in the booth, when ur turn comes, give the identity card, after the verification, the officer will get a sign from you confirming u are going to vote, then the ink will be placed in your left index fingure after that the officer will ask you to proceed to the EVM to cast your vote.. before the last step after placing the ink, you demand for the form 49'O', In that you have to sign registering your vote against none of the above.

The draw back of this process is...

a) Its no more a secret to whom who have voted, as u have demanded to abstain from voting to any of the candidates

b) the number of 49'O' forms collected across the booths are not made public at the end of the day by the election commission.

The benefits of 49'O'

a) You are standing up against the political big wigs who think they can get away by fielding irresponsible candidates.

b) You ensure u r vote is not wasted or franchaised by any body else.

c) You keep u r head high because its YOU who has brought about the "CHANGE"....

Tips for selecting the candidate..

a) analyise the age of the candidate, dont choose any one who is beyond 65. They cant even walk properly, let alone taking up the issues in the parliment

b) See the family backround and the education status of the candidate.

c) Ensure He/She has not been in jail due to crime, corruption charges, murder, rape, assults.. even if the trail is pending dont choose them.

d) Make sure He/She is approchable, friendly, well mannered.

Avoid one thing in the election day - PLEASE DONT SIT AT HOME WITHOUT VOTING. usually because you dont vote, you end up living the govt. you dont like.
BE the CHANGE...

Regional parties at centre

So this is it, the third front.. which is under storm and speculation has atlast emerged, unlike the divided stand during the presidential elections, this time around hope this third front has meaning in its formation, on and after the mega elections that are coming up... The key states are the uttar pradesh, tamilnadu, Andra and karnataka that are going to either be a spoil sport or the king makers in the elections this time.
Coming to tamilnadu, Its the famous J.J who is going to lead the 3rd front.but as every one knows about the mood swings of amma, the Left will be always be at the mercy of Amma. Since JJ was called very causualy to the dinner party at Mayavathi's home at delhi, she refused to even send a representative to the dinner, let alone she not turning up. so the strength of the Third front is questinable. If jaya's ADAMK wins comfortably, atleast 20 to 25 seats this time, then she would be in a poweful place to demand at centre and could be a queen maker in deciding the government that is to be formed. Though she is trying too hard to woo the PMK and the DMDK, one have to wait and see how the political alliance will form in TN, elections still two months away in TN we never know what will happen ..
In andra the situation is still in agreat dilamma after the praja rajyam has come into the political fray, One has to wait and see which party's vote Chiranjeevi is going to split....since they have both the state and the central elections, what lies in the mind of the andra voter is a billion dollar question.
In karnataka, Deva Gowda is looking very bad and BJP is looking for another sweep, but after the manglore incidents, minority communities like christians and churches being on constant attack and the famous rama sena which has tarnished the state's secural image,Cong and deva gaowda will be looking to score again...
In the Uttar pradesh, where mayavathi had a thumping victory 2 years back, people will be wooed right , left and centre will all kinds of soaps and projecting her as a national leader, the UP people may even get lucky to have the Prime minister from their state.. ut after some defaming murder investgations and corruption charges, the middle and upper cate vostes should follow the same trail as it was 2 years ago fot mayavathi's cental aspiration to become the PM.
The dices have rolled, and the politicians are moving their coins, but who will emegre and who will be the outcome is in the hands of the poor voter, for election after election with some hope he/she stands in a long que to vote to see the diffrence.. and with the regional parties playing so hard this time.. who knows the lady luck may smile..pushing the national parties to a corner. Any ways we will keep guessing till 16th may....

VOTE INDIA VOTE

The battle lines are drawn and the dates are set and as usual the media predicts yet another hung parliment, so the winner is going to be who ever crosses the 200 mark this time. though NDA lost out by mere 6 seats last time, the mirror image is quite possible this time too...
with 1,200 crore rupess at stake for this 2 months election hungama(a lot more than a year long US elections), the trp ratings of the news channels are going to soar sky high. And for the delight of the people, the results are to be out on a saturday (16th may) so every TV in the house of the billion people will be busy broadcasting the big winner....
The Democracy of our nation is so stong, even after all the lies, bad performancecs, unkept promises, undone election manifestos.. the politicians who are bravehearted get ready to face the people for votes. Unlike the US where the system to elect the president goes in a very systamatic and wonderful way, here we lack the basic decency of the parties even to apper together for a open debate... just imagine karunanidi and jayalalitha on the same stage in a healthy debate... its not going to happen any ways...
But as a responsible citizens, it's our duty to cast the vote and then talk about the govenment's function . the poor and the middle class always makes it a point to stand in the Que and vote, its the upper middle class, bussiness class and aristrocrats who enjoy most of the benifits sit at home and enjoy the holiday....lets be the change...lets make the democracy more powerful, lets not feel lazy to go and vote... some body casting ur vote is equal to some one reading your personal diary... VOTING IS YOUR BIRTH RIGH, THE RIGHT TO PROVE YOU ARE THE CITIZEN OF THIS NATION AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COUNTRY"S GROWTH.....so mark the dates and get ready to vote to elect the 15th lok shaba for our betterment.

Jay Ho...

Getting up at 4.30 am and seeing the most coverted actors/actress walking on the red carpet had finally paid off around 9.30 am when the first oscar went to the Indian technecian to Russel pookutty for sound mixing in slumdog... The underdog movie for any awards function "the slumdog millianore" swept the red carpet with 8 Oscars out of its 10 nominations.. with the oscars the movie so far has won 108 awards all over the world. The real joy and exitement came in when AR Rahman won 2 Oscars for the Original score and original song catogories....
It is the time for joy and pride... the country is celebtaing ARR's and Pookutty's win... May the legacy continue... Hard work, luck and most of all the very important God's garce alome will put any one in such heights... though one will aree the music of slumdog is not that very extraordinary than the other compositions of ARR, it is the award for all that he has done so far and a boost for the one's he is going to do.... the documentry film" smili pinki" taken in India also has won an Oscar.. so America watch out we are coming....!!! Jai HO to all entire slumdog millianore team..

The India's Oscar dream...

A.R. Rehman is phenominal.period. Though ARR is pitted against the world's best music directors,(3 of them were nominated for the Oscars 10 times, 8 times and 4 times respectively and never won it even once) in the nomainations for the best original score, its that billion Indian's prayers that will take him to the red carpet and clinch the oscar statue back to our home land. Apart from original score he is nominated in 2 other catogories...espically there are only 3 nominations for the original song and two of the nominations bear ARR s name against it, so hope against hope we will keep our fingures crossed... though most of them would argue the american's award does not mean any thing to India, all said and done, it is the highest internatinal honour any artist in the filmdom would want to recieve in his/her life time. So 10 nominations and a billion prayers.. lets hope the black oscar flies back toIndia. Other docoumentry film based on "cleft lip" and its correction..the trauma of a small girl pinky who turns into a "smily pinky" is also in the Oscar race for the best documentry, so keep the fingures of the toes too crossed.... One major disappointment was the film "Tare Zamen par"s failure to make it to the nominations for the best foreign film catogory... it was a real film with original script and dont know what made the jury to reject the India's offical oscar entry in the very first round. Hmmm! we were happy atleast India's choice was correct this time unlike the last year's eklavia disaster.
so tomorrow moring just like other die hard fans of ARR I too will be glued to NDTV at 4.30 am to follow the red carpet live.... lets hope at the end of the show we too sing..."Jay ho.."

Disturbing thoughts...

After a very long time, iam in my blog spot... Thanks to my sister priya who constatnly says me to blog.. The recent happenings in srilanka are really disturbing.. when ever a news about confilts, war zones comes,my heart goes out to all those innocent people who die. I see all these as the adament approach of the politicians to just keep up their pride and political gains and loose 1000s of innocent ppl in the cross fire. What is happening in srilanka is a war against the tamils,The fight is between the singalese govt. and innocent tamilians. Thinking broadly, the tamilians are suffering in the hands of others for their rights, be it the neighbouring states karnataka for the cauvery water, kerela for the mullai periyar dam issue, Andra for the krishna water, In malaysia the tamils are loosing all freedom and are dominated by the malaias and chinese people. In srilanka the issue is very serious, the tamils are wanting a decent life to live, salary to raise their family and peaceful sleep under a roof. when the basic human rights is denied then the people stand up against the attrocities, that is what is happeining is srilanka, the tamilians are running since 1960's running for their lives, running for their rights, running to safe guard their community... every singalese govt. that comes to power denies the one single previlage to these people: right to Live. what happens when you see a army man rape your daughter and wife in front of your eyes ? such maximum attrocities are happening in srilanka.. even verse, these people are killed...left to die on the streets... the srilankan army pours the phosphorous and kills people, bombards the hospitals and the civilian places in search of LTTE's.. one thing the world does not understand is... how a mere 5000 LTTE people hold 2 lakh tamil people as hostages ? the truth is that the tamil people's only hope is the LTTE now. They are tired of running, they are tired of snake bites in the forests, they are tired of loosing their kith and kins in bomb shells, theya re tired of shifting homes on their backs, they are tired of betrayals, false promises and now they are tired of even living ! one cant be pushed to the corner of the wall and asked to live happily... the outrage of their lost relatives and loved ones burns in every tamilian's heart in srilanka, the tamilians in tamilnadu also suffer along with them.. they are angry and they are directionless.... they know the ruling govt in the state had played double game, they will never help the tamils in lanka. If atall they had cared ..they would have withdrew the support to the centre, led a team to srilanka and catch the collar of Rajapakshe and ask him to stop the attrocities by the lankan army towards killing of the innocent people. But they are all power mongers, they need to rule the tamilnadu dynasity as they are the crowned kings... after the king his son would take up, the daughter will stand aside and be a bridge to new delhi and will help grow their family fortunes and open up a new tv channel month after month.....cease fire in srilanka has become a dream and nothing is going to stop the tamil population being completely wiped out from the face of srilanka.....atleast GOD please save my tamil people all over the world.
