Its again only 60%

It is really sad to know even after intense campaining, creating awarness against leaps and bounts across such a huge country there were 40% who did not turn up to the voting booths for the first phase of elections that were held on the 16th of april. People dont understand the truth that just becuse this large half of the people who dont franchaise their votes, even the people who voted have to end up living under the goivernment they did not vote for.
Kerela, a well educated state has lead from the fromt with 72% of voter turnout, the rest propbably may not be living in India. atleast a 75% voter turn out is pretty decenr and will make the politicain suffer endless nightmares till the results are out...but he making us undergo sleepless nights for 5 years is a diffrent story after he wins and comes!!
Its still not later after all we still have 4 more phases to go...atlest people of Tamilnadu have to vote in hunge number coz anyways it will be US who will decide the future Pm of India...

Whats 49'O" ?

Writer 'Gyani' of 'O pakkangal' fame in Kumudham weekly issue is doing a good job of creating awarness about the election rule 49'O'. If you dont want to elect a criminal, convicted or a corrupted, aged, non deserving candidate from your constituency, then go ahead and vote for 49'o'. The election commission is bringing about relutionary changes in the huge election process in India... electronic voting machines, photo identity cards , strict implication of moral code of conduct. The option to select 'none of the above' using the election rule 49'o' is gaining momentum with in the educated class who are tired of electing repeated criminals.

The election commision has asked the governments to pass a bill in the parliment to add the 'none of the above' button' in the EVM s. But both the UPA and NDA joined hands in this issue by not passing the bill. Now a case about this issue is pending with the supreme court of India. The honourable court;s verdict will be out any time.

If the none of the above button is not instaleed in the EVM's then how to go about voting the 49'o'? jsut like the normal procedure, stand in the q in the booth, when ur turn comes, give the identity card, after the verification, the officer will get a sign from you confirming u are going to vote, then the ink will be placed in your left index fingure after that the officer will ask you to proceed to the EVM to cast your vote.. before the last step after placing the ink, you demand for the form 49'O', In that you have to sign registering your vote against none of the above.

The draw back of this process is...

a) Its no more a secret to whom who have voted, as u have demanded to abstain from voting to any of the candidates

b) the number of 49'O' forms collected across the booths are not made public at the end of the day by the election commission.

The benefits of 49'O'

a) You are standing up against the political big wigs who think they can get away by fielding irresponsible candidates.

b) You ensure u r vote is not wasted or franchaised by any body else.

c) You keep u r head high because its YOU who has brought about the "CHANGE"....

Tips for selecting the candidate..

a) analyise the age of the candidate, dont choose any one who is beyond 65. They cant even walk properly, let alone taking up the issues in the parliment

b) See the family backround and the education status of the candidate.

c) Ensure He/She has not been in jail due to crime, corruption charges, murder, rape, assults.. even if the trail is pending dont choose them.

d) Make sure He/She is approchable, friendly, well mannered.

Avoid one thing in the election day - PLEASE DONT SIT AT HOME WITHOUT VOTING. usually because you dont vote, you end up living the govt. you dont like.
BE the CHANGE...
